Learn about community helpers and their roles

Step 1

Introduction

5 minutes

  • Begin by asking students if they know what a community helper is.
  • Show pictures of different community helpers (firefighters, police officers, doctors, etc.) and briefly discuss what each one does.

Step 2

Video Viewing

5 minutes

  • Introduce the video and explain that it will show how community helpers can assist us in various situations.
  • Play the video.

Step 3

Discussion

10 minutes

  • After watching the video, ask students questions about what they saw:
    • Who were the community helpers in the video?
    • How did they help?
    • Why is it important to have community helpers?
  • Guide the discussion to emphasize the importance of recognizing and appreciating community helpers.

Step 4

Interactive Activity: Community Helper Bingo

15 minutes

  • Give each student or group a Community Helper Bingo card.
  • Explain how to play: You will call out descriptions of different community helpers, and students will mark the corresponding helper on their Bingo cards.
  • The first group to get a Bingo will explain their marked helpers and how they help the community.

5 minutes

  • Summarize the key points of the lesson.
  • Ask students to share one new thing they learned about community helpers.
  • Encourage students to think about how community helpers impact their lives.
