Students will assess their interests and strengths, research three potential careers, and create SMART goals for their post-graduation plans.
Helps 12th graders make informed decisions about future careers, boosts confidence, and clarifies next steps for life after high school.

- Review the student’s academic records, interests, and any previous career exploration notes.
- Print copies of Career Self-Assessment Worksheet, Career Research Organizer, and Personal Goal-Setting Template.
- Compile a tailored list of reputable websites and resources under Online Career Explorer Links.
Step 1
Warm-Up and Rapport Building
5 minutes
- Greet the student and ask about their current senior-year experiences.
- Remind them of the session’s purpose: exploring careers and setting goals.
- Establish a comfortable, confidential atmosphere.
Step 2
Self-Assessment Reflection
15 minutes
- Introduce the Career Self-Assessment Worksheet.
- Guide the student to list their skills, values, and interests.
- Discuss any patterns or surprises from their responses.
- Clarify how strengths align with potential career fields.

Career Research Activity
20 minutes
- Provide the Career Research Organizer.
- Ask the student to select three careers of interest.
- Research each: required education, salary range, job outlook, daily tasks.
- Encourage use of links from Online Career Explorer Links.
- Compare and contrast the three options together.

Goal Setting Session
15 minutes
- Introduce the Personal Goal-Setting Template.
- Help the student craft 2–3 SMART goals related to their top career choice (e.g., college applications, certifications).
- Define clear action steps and timelines for each goal.
- Confirm the student’s confidence and ownership of these goals.

- Review the established SMART goals and agreed-upon action steps.
- Schedule a follow-up meeting or check-in date.
