Students will rotate through a 20-minute circuit combining nutrition trivia on slides, balance exercises at the Plate Stability Station, and a balancing worksheet to reinforce healthy eating facts and improve core stability.

  • Divide class into three groups and assign starting stations
  • Set timer for 5-minute intervals with 30-second transition alerts

Station 1: Nutrition Trivia

5 minutes

  • Project Balance & Bites Slides
  • Read each trivia question aloud; groups discuss answers
  • When a group answers correctly, everyone holds tree pose for 10 seconds
  • Use the timer to pace questions and signal rotation

Step 3

Station 2: Plate Stability Station

5 minutes

  • At the Plate Stability Station Cards, each student draws a balance challenge
  • Perform the challenge: stand on one leg and complete 5 reps, hold each rep for 5 seconds
  • Switch legs and repeat
  • Teacher circulates to correct form and cheer effort

Plate Stability Station Cards

• Shuffle the cards and place them face down at the station.
• Each student draws one card and reads the challenge aloud.
• Perform the challenge by standing on one leg and completing 5 reps, holding each rep for 5 seconds.
• After 5 reps, switch legs and repeat the sequence.


Cards:

  1. Plate Palm Press

    • Hold a lightweight plate on your palm at chest height.
    • Stand on one leg, lower into a mini-squat, then rise and hold the squat for 5 seconds.
    • Complete 5 reps before switching legs.






  2. Plate Head Balance

    • Balance a paper plate on your head.
    • Stand on one leg, lift the other knee in front of you, and hold that knee-high position for 5 seconds.
    • Do 5 reps, then switch legs.






  3. Plate Overhead Hold

    • Hold a plate straight overhead with both hands.
    • Stand on one leg and lean slightly forward, keeping arms extended, and hold for 5 seconds.
    • Repeat 5 times, then switch legs.






  4. Plate Reach Twist

    • Hold a plate at waist level with both hands.
    • Stand on one leg, rotate your torso to touch the plate to the floor on one side, hold 5 seconds, then return.
    • Perform 5 reps each leg.






  5. Plate Side Bend

    • Hold a plate in one hand at your side.
    • Stand on the opposite leg and bend sideways toward the plate, holding the bottom position for 5 seconds.
    • Complete 5 reps each side.






  6. Plate March Hold

    • Hold a plate at chest height.
    • Stand on one leg and lift the opposite knee to hip level, holding for 5 seconds.
    • Lower and repeat 5 times before switching legs.
