Vision Board Creation: Visualizing Your Purpose
What is a Vision Board?
A vision board is a powerful tool to help you clarify and focus on your life goals and purpose. It's a collage of images, words, and affirmations that visually represents what you want to be, do, or have in your life. By regularly looking at your vision board, you reinforce your intentions and stay motivated toward your purposeful path.
Your Task:
Create a personal vision board that reflects your unique purpose, values, strengths, interests, and future aspirations. This board should be a visual representation of your 'purpose pathway' – where you're headed and what motivates you.
Materials Needed:
- Physical Board Option:
- Poster board, corkboard, or large sheet of paper
- Magazines, newspapers, printed images (from online sources)
- Scissors, glue stick, tape
- Markers, colored pencils, glitter (optional)
- Digital Board Option:
- Computer or tablet
- Access to online image search (Google Images, Pinterest)
- Digital collage tools (Canva, Google Slides, PowerPoint, Padlet)
Guidelines for Your Vision Board:
-
Start with Your Purpose: Refer to your Values & Strengths Journal and your draft purpose statement. How can you visually represent this? What images, words, or symbols come to mind?
-
Incorporate Values & Strengths: Include elements that reflect your core values and unique strengths. If your value is "Community," you might include images of people working together. If your strength is "Creativity," you might include images of art or innovative designs.
-
Visualize Future Goals: Think about your aspirations related to:
- Education: What do you want to learn? Where do you want to go?
- Career: What kind of work aligns with your purpose?
- Personal Growth: What kind of person do you want to become?
- Impact: How do you want to make a difference in the world?
- Experiences: What experiences do you want to have?
-
Be Creative & Personal: There's no right or wrong way to make a vision board. Make it unique to you! Use colors, fonts, and arrangements that inspire you.
-
Words Matter: Don't just use images. Include inspiring quotes, affirmations, powerful adjectives, or single words that encapsulate your vision.
-
Presentation (Optional, but Recommended): Be prepared to share your vision board with a small group or the class, explaining the meaning behind your choices. This helps solidify your purpose and allows for peer connection.
Reflect and Connect:
As you create your board, continuously ask yourself:
- "Does this image/word connect to my purpose?"
- "Does this truly represent what I want to achieve or who I want to be?"
Your vision board is a living document – it can evolve as you grow and your purpose becomes clearer. Enjoy the process of bringing your future to life!
