Finding a healthy relationship with technology.

Welcome students and introduce the topic of the day: finding a balance with technology. Ask them to think about how technology fits into their lives.

What is Digital Wellbeing?

Digital wellbeing is about having a healthy and balanced relationship with technology.

It means using technology in a way that supports your:

Define digital wellbeing for the students. Emphasize that it's not about avoiding technology, but about using it mindfully and in a way that supports their overall health.

Why Does It Matter?

A healthy digital balance can lead to:

  • Better Focus in school and on hobbies
  • Improved Sleep by reducing late-night screen time
  • Reduced Stress and Anxiety from constant notifications
  • More Time for friends, family, and outdoor activities
  • Stronger Real-World Connections

Discuss why digital wellbeing is important for them personally. Connect it to real-life examples they might experience.

Strategies for a Balanced Digital Life

Here are some ideas to try:

  • Set Time Limits: Use timers or app limits.
  • Digital-Free Zones: Designate certain times or places without screens (e.g., dinner table, bedroom before bed).
  • Mindful Notifications: Turn off unnecessary alerts.
  • Unplug & Play: Schedule time for offline activities.
  • Curate Your Feed: Follow positive and inspiring accounts.
  • Reflect & Adjust: Regularly check in with how technology makes you feel.

Introduce practical strategies. Encourage students to think about which strategies might work for them. This slide will lead into the 'My Digital Wellbeing Plan' activity.
