Step 1

Warm-Up: Share Your Sparkle (5 minutes)

5 minutes

  • Begin with an engaging question to activate prior knowledge and set a positive tone. You can use a prompt like: "Think of something you did recently that made you feel proud. It could be big or small! Turn to a partner and share your 'sparkle moment'."
    - Encourage a few students to share their 'sparkle moments' with the whole class. (Refer to Your Awesome Story Slide Deck - Slide 1)

Step 2

Introduction: What is Self-Esteem? (5 minutes)

5 minutes

  • Use the Your Awesome Story Slide Deck (Slides 2-3) to introduce the concept of self-esteem in an age-appropriate way.
    - Explain that self-esteem is how we feel about ourselves and how important it is to recognize our own good qualities and achievements.
    - Facilitate a brief discussion asking students what makes them feel good about themselves.

Step 3

Activity: My Achievement Stars (10 minutes)

10 minutes

  • Distribute the My Achievement Stars Worksheet to each student.
    - Explain the activity: Students will draw or write about achievements, skills, or positive qualities they possess. Encourage them to think broadly (e.g., helping a sibling, learning a new game, being a good friend, getting a good grade, trying a new sport).
    - Play uplifting background music if desired.
    - Circulate and offer encouragement and support as students work.

Step 4

Reflection: Future Me (5 minutes)

5 minutes

  • Transition to thinking about future possibilities using the Your Awesome Story Slide Deck (Slide 4).
    - Introduce the Future Me Journal prompt, asking students to think about one thing they would like to achieve or learn in the future, big or small. This could be a skill, a personal goal, or something they want to try.
    - Encourage them to write or draw their ideas, emphasizing that it's about potential and dreams, not pressure.

Step 5

Wrap-Up: Share Your Vision (5 minutes)

5 minutes

  • Invite students to share one achievement star or one future goal with a partner or the class (voluntarily).
    - Reiterate the main message: Everyone has unique strengths and incredible potential. Emphasize that feeling good about ourselves comes from recognizing both what we've done and what we can still do.
    - Conclude with a positive affirmation. (Refer to Your Awesome Story Slide Deck - Slide 5).
    - Consider using the Self-Esteem Booster Cool Down as an exit ticket.
