Enhance Work Completion Skills

This series of lessons is designed to help 7th-grade students improve their work completion skills. Each lesson focuses on a different aspect of work completion, such as time management, goal setting, prioritization, overcoming procrastination, and seeking help. By developing these skills, students will be better equipped to manage their academic responsibilities and achieve their goals.

Step 1

Lesson 1: Time Management

30 mins

  • Objective: Learn effective time management strategies.
  • Introduction (5 mins): Discuss the importance of managing time effectively. Ask students how they currently manage their time and what challenges they face.
  • Video Viewing (5 mins): Show the video How to Manage Your Time Better. Ask students to note down key strategies mentioned.
  • Interactive Activity (5 mins): In pairs, have students share their current daily schedules and identify one area where they can improve time management.
  • Worksheet Activity (10 mins): Complete a time management worksheet to plan a typical school day. Encourage students to identify time-wasting activities and how to minimize them.
  • Closure (5 mins): Recap key strategies and encourage students to apply them in their daily routines. Ask students to set a time management goal for the week.

Step 2

Lesson 2: Goal Setting

30 mins

  • Objective: Understand how to set and achieve goals.
  • Introduction (5 mins): Explain the importance of setting SMART goals. Discuss how goals can help students stay focused and motivated.
  • Video Viewing (5 mins): Show the video How to Stay Motivated. Ask students to identify the steps involved in setting a SMART goal.
  • Interactive Activity (5 mins): In small groups, students share a personal goal and receive feedback on how to make it SMART.
  • Worksheet Activity (10 mins): Create a personal goal plan using the SMART criteria. Have students write down a goal and break it into smaller, manageable steps.
  • Closure (5 mins): Encourage students to track their progress towards their goals. Ask them to reflect on what they learned about goal setting.

Lesson 3: Prioritization
