Winter Reflection Circles

Foster community and personal growth

In this lesson, students will participate in Winter Reflection Circles, where they will share one thing they learned about themselves this year and one thing they hope to achieve in the coming months. This activity encourages self-reflection, active listening, and empathy, fostering a sense of community and personal growth. It is important as it helps students connect with their peers and reflect on their personal development.

Step 1

Introduction

5 minutes

  • Welcome students and explain the purpose of the reflection circles.
  • Discuss the importance of self-reflection and listening to others.
  • Set ground rules for respectful listening and sharing.

Step 2

Circle Formation

5 minutes

  • Divide students into small groups of 4-6.
  • Ensure each group has a comfortable space to sit in a circle.
  • Distribute the reflection prompts to each group.

Step 3

Reflection Sharing

15 minutes

  • Instruct students to take turns sharing one thing they learned about themselves this year.
  • Encourage them to also share one thing they hope to achieve in the coming months.
  • Remind students to listen actively and respectfully to their peers.

Step 4

Closure

5 minutes

  • Gather students back together as a whole group.
  • Invite a few volunteers to share insights or feelings about the activity.
  • Reinforce the value of community and personal growth through reflection.
