Winter Kindness Jar Activity

Foster kindness and empathy

In this lesson, students will decorate a 'Kindness Jar' and contribute notes of kind deeds or encouraging statements. This activity is designed to foster a caring classroom environment and motivate students to practice kindness daily. Step 1

Introduction

  • Gather students in a circle.
  • Briefly explain the concept of kindness and why it's important, especially in winter.
  • Show the jar and explain that it will be used to collect kind deeds and encouraging notes.

Step 2

Decorate the Jar

5 minutes

  • Provide art supplies and allow students to decorate the jar.
  • Encourage creativity and discuss how the decorations can reflect kindness.

Step 3

Write Kindness Notes

5 minutes

  • Distribute pre-cut paper slips and the 'Kindness Notes' worksheet.
  • Ask students to draw or write a kind deed or encouraging statement.
