Where Do You Draw The Line?

A 15-minute guide to understanding, reflecting on, and planning healthy personal boundaries.

Welcome everyone to today’s session. Introduce the title and purpose: understanding, reflecting on, and planning for personal boundaries. Emphasize confidentiality and encourage open-minded participation.

What Are Personal Boundaries?

• Emotional boundaries: protecting your feelings and mental space
• Physical boundaries: respecting personal space and touch
• Time boundaries: allocating your time and energy intentionally

Explain that boundaries define what we’re comfortable with emotionally, physically, and in how we spend our time. Invite a quick show of hands: who has felt unclear about a boundary?

Reflect on a Boundary Crossed

• Recall a recent scenario where a boundary felt crossed
• What happened?
• How did it make you feel?
• Which boundary was at stake?
Use the Boundary Reflection Worksheet for prompts.

Distribute the Boundary Reflection Worksheet. Give participants 3–4 minutes to write privately. Circulate to offer support if needed.

Create Your Boundary Action Plan

Use the Personal Boundary Action Plan Template:

  1. Clear boundary statement
  2. Specific steps to communicate it
  3. Self-check measures for consistency

Hand out the Personal Boundary Action Plan Template. Guide participants to choose one reflection point and fill in the plan.
