Students will identify their personal wellness “superpowers” by recognizing their health strengths and create simple action steps to use these strengths daily.
This lesson builds self-awareness and confidence in students’ health habits, encouraging lifelong wellness by leveraging individual strengths.

Step 1
Introduction & Warm-Up
5 minutes
- Welcome students and introduce the concept of a wellness “superpower”
- Ask: “When do you feel your healthiest or strongest?”
- Record volunteers’ responses on the board to spark ideas

10 minutes
- Present Wellness Superpower Slides
- Highlight examples: balanced meals, positive thinking, regular movement
- Ask comprehension questions and invite quick student examples

Strengths Brainstorm Carousel
15 minutes
- Divide students into small groups and assign each to a station with a carousel sheet
- At each station, groups list personal strengths tied to prompts (e.g., “How I stay active”)
- Rotate groups every 3 minutes until all stations are complete
- Collect completed sheets

Personal Reflection
10 minutes
- Distribute My Wellness Superpower Reflection
- Students choose their top two wellness strengths and write one daily action step for each
- Circulate to support deeper thinking and provide feedback

What Is a Wellness Superpower?
A wellness superpower is a personal habit or strength that helps you feel strong, healthy, and happy.
Define the term clearly. Emphasize that superpowers aren’t capes—they’re healthy habits and strengths within each student.
Why Discover Your Superpower?

Help students see why this matters. Relate to their lives: sports, school, playtime, friendships.

Activity
Strengths Brainstorm Carousel Activity
Purpose:
In this carousel activity, students work in small groups to generate personal wellness strengths tied to four key prompts. They will rotate through each station, build on each other’s ideas, and capture a wide variety of superpowers.
Setup & Materials:
- Print and place each station sheet on a table or wall around the room.
- Provide one marker per group.
- Set a timer for 3 minutes per rotation.
- Form student groups of 3–4 and assign each to a different starting station.
Stations:
- Station 1 – How I stay active
Prompt: List all the ways you move your body to stay active and strong.
- Station 2 – How I fuel my body
Prompt: List healthy foods, snacks, and drinks you enjoy that give you energy.
- Station 3 – How I relax and recharge
Prompt: List activities or habits that help you rest, relax, and feel calm.
- Station 4 – How I practice positive thinking
Prompt: List habits or mindsets that help you keep a positive attitude.
Directions:
- Each group starts at their assigned station with a marker.
- Read the prompt and write as many ideas as you can in 3 minutes.
- When the timer rings, groups rotate clockwise to the next station.
- Continue rotating until each group has visited all four stations.
- At the end, collect each station sheet for review.
Debrief:
- Gather completed sheets and highlight recurring strengths.
- Ask volunteers to share surprising or new ideas they discovered.
- Transition into the personal reflection with My Wellness Superpower Reflection.

Cool Down
Share-It-Out Circle
Time: 5–7 minutes
Purpose: Provide students an opportunity to reflect, share their wellness superpowers, and build community support.
Setup
- Arrange chairs in a circle so everyone can see and hear each other.
- Remind students of our class norms: active listening, respect, and positive encouragement.
Instructions
- Introduce the Activity (1 minute):
• Explain that each student will share one wellness superpower and their daily action plan.
• Emphasize ground rules: speak clearly, listen without interrupting, and give one positive comment. - Sharing Round (4–5 minutes):
• Choose a starting student and move clockwise.
• Each student shares:- Wellness Superpower: What is your superpower?
- Action Step: What daily habit will you practice?
• After each share, one peer gives a quick positive comment (e.g., “I love how you plan to…,” “Great idea to…”).
- Wrap-Up (1 minute):
• Thank everyone for sharing bravely.
• Highlight a few common themes or especially creative ideas.
• Encourage students to place their My Wellness Superpower Reflection somewhere visible at home or school as a reminder.
Extension (Optional)
- Partner Check-Ins: Pair students up to remind each other daily about their action steps.
- Weekly Circle: Revisit your superpowers next week—share successes and problem-solve challenges together.
