Slide Deck

What's Your Superpower?

What superpower would you choose to have?
How would you use it?

Greet students warmly. Ask them to think about their favorite fictional superpower. Encourage a few to share and explain why they chose it. Transition by saying, 'Today, we're going to talk about a real-life superpower you all have!'

Self-Care: Your Secret Superpower!

What is Self-Care?

Taking care of your mind, body, and feelings!

It's like charging your phone or fueling up a car. You need energy to play, learn, and grow!

Why is it a Superpower?

It helps you feel:

  • Happier
  • Calmer
  • Stronger
  • Ready for anything!

Define self-care in simple, age-appropriate terms. Emphasize that it's about taking care of yourself so you can be your best. Provide examples that resonate with 5th graders.

Different Kinds of Self-Care

Just like superheroes have different powers, self-care has different types!

  • Physical Self-Care: Moving your body, eating healthy snacks, getting enough sleep.
  • Emotional Self-Care: Talking about your feelings, drawing, listening to music.
  • Social Self-Care: Spending time with friends and family, connecting with others.
  • Mental Self-Care: Reading a good book, learning something new, taking a break from screens.

Introduce different types of self-care. Use simple visuals or descriptions for each category. Ask students for quick examples of each type.

Self-Care in Action!

What does self-care look like for you?

  • Playing outside
  • Reading a favorite book
  • Cuddling with a pet
  • Drawing or creating art
  • Listening to music
  • Taking a quiet moment
  • Talking to a trusted grown-up

Provide relatable examples for 5th graders. Encourage students to think about what they already do or what they could try. This slide should spark ideas for their activity.

Unleash Your Inner Calm!

You have the power to take care of YOU!

What will your self-care superpower be today?

Conclude by reiterating the main message: everyone has the power to take care of themselves. Encourage them to use their self-care superpowers daily. Transition to the next activity.
