Calming Techniques Handout

This handout provides simple techniques for students to use when they need to calm down.

Calming Techniques

  1. Deep Breathing: Breathe in slowly through your nose, hold it for a few seconds, and then exhale slowly through your mouth.

  2. Counting to Ten: Slowly count from one to ten. This gives you time to calm down and think.

  3. Quiet Space: Find a quiet place where you can be alone for a few minutes to relax.

  4. Hug a Teddy: Sometimes holding a favorite toy or stuffed animal can help you feel better.

  5. Draw or Color: Use drawing or coloring to express how you feel.
