- Queue up any slides or examples to display via projector

Warm-Up

- Ask students: “Where would you like to travel and why?”
- List responses on the whiteboard, introducing key vocabulary like ‘itinerary’, ‘booking’, and ‘reservation’
- Distribute the Essential Travel Vocabulary Handout

- Explain the basic trip-planning steps: research, budgeting, booking transport, reserving lodging, creating an itinerary
- Show a sample one-day itinerary on the screen
- Highlight and model common phrases for asking dates, times, and prices

A 30-minute session on essential travel planning skills for adult learners.
Welcome participants. Introduce yourself and the session. Explain that they will learn to plan a simple trip, master key travel words, and practice real-world phrases.
Session Objectives

Essential Travel Vocabulary
• Itinerary: a planned route or schedule of travel
• Booking/Reservation: arranging and holding transport or lodging
• Transportation: means to travel (bus, train, flight)
• Accommodation: place to stay (hotel, hostel, Airbnb)
• Budget: amount of money set aside for a trip
Distribute the Essential Travel Vocabulary Handout. Briefly define each term and ask learners to provide examples.
Basic Trip-Planning Steps
- Research destinations & transport options
- Set a budget
- Book transport (tickets, passes)
- Reserve accommodation
- Create a day-by-day itinerary
Walk through each step. Invite participants to suggest resources for research and cost-saving tips.
Sample One-Day Itinerary
• 9:00 AM – Depart by train to Lakeview City
• 10:30 AM – Arrive & drop bags at hostel
• 11:00 AM – City walking tour (booking confirmed)
• 1:00 PM – Lunch at local café
• 2:30 PM – Visit museum (pre-paid reservation)
• 5:00 PM – Return train home
