Students will learn to identify and nurture their inner voice for positive self-talk and self-coaching, building techniques for boosting self-esteem and resilience.

10 minutes

  • Review the Training Your Inner Voice Lesson Plan to ensure a smooth flow of activities.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Inner Voice Reflection Worksheet to guide student reflection.
  • Prepare a brief introduction on the concept of self-coaching and positive self-talk.

Step 1

Introduction and Warm-Up

10 minutes

  • Begin with a group discussion on what an inner voice is and its role in decision-making.
  • Ask students to share examples of times when positive self-talk helped them overcome a challenge.
  • Introduce the idea of being their own coach by listening to their inner voice.

Step 2

Guided Activity: Self-Coaching Techniques

15 minutes

  • Provide a mini-lesson on techniques for developing a supportive inner voice (e.g., affirmations, reflective questions).
  • Conduct a role-playing activity where one student says a negative thought and another helps transform it into a positive one.
  • Use the Inner Voice Reflection Worksheet to facilitate the activity.

Step 3

Reflection and Discussion

  • Have students individually reflect on a challenge they face and write down a positive self-coaching statement using the reflection worksheet.

What is one thought that you often hear in your head that makes you feel unsure or worried?





2. Recognizing Negative Self-Talk

Write about a time when this negative thought made you feel bad or prevented you from doing something you wanted to do.





3. Transforming Negative Thoughts

Now, think of a positive way to say something to yourself when that negative thought arises. How could you reframe that thought?





4. Positive Affirmations

Write down your own positive affirmation that you can use when you feel negative thoughts coming on. Remember, this is a personal statement that makes you feel strong and supported.





5. Daily Check-In

How do you feel after writing your positive affirmation? Jot down any changes you notice in your mood or confidence.
