Slide Deck

Time Travelers: Daily Adventure Maps!

Let's become masters of our time!

Welcome students. Introduce the exciting title. Ask them what they think "Daily Adventure Maps" might mean.

What Is A Schedule?

A plan for your day! It tells you what to do and when to do it.

  • Like a map for your time!

Explain that a schedule helps us know what to expect and when. Give simple examples like school bells or bedtime.

Why Schedule Our Day?

  • Get more done!
  • Remember important things!
  • Less stress (for you AND grown-ups)!
  • More time for fun!

Discuss the benefits. Ask students how they feel when they forget something important, or when they have lots of free time because their tasks are done.

Parts Of Your Day

What are some things you do every day?

  • Morning (getting ready, breakfast)
  • School (classes, lunch, recess)
  • Afternoon (homework, chores, playtime)
  • Evening (dinner, family time, bedtime)

Brainstorm with students. Write their ideas on the board. This connects to the warm-up and sets up the activity.

Creating Your Adventure Map!

  1. List your important activities.
  2. Decide when each activity happens.
  3. Be realistic!
  4. Don't forget breaks and free time!

Introduce the steps for creating a schedule. Emphasize that it's okay for schedules to be flexible.

Ready, Set, Schedule!

Time to make your own Daily Adventure Map!

Activity

Daily Adventure Map Activity: Our Class Schedule Challenge!

Objective: As a class, let's create a "perfect" school day schedule for a fictional 4th grader, "Captain Chronos"!

Instructions:

  1. Brainstorming (3 minutes): On the whiteboard or chart paper, list all the things Captain Chronos needs to do during a school day, from waking up to going to bed. Think about:

    • Lunch and recess
    • After-school activities (homework, chores, playtime, sports)
    • Dinner
    • Family time
    • Bedtime routine
  2. Time Blocking (5 minutes): Work together to assign approximate times to each activity. Use a simple table format on the board:
    TimeActivity
7:00 AMWake Up / Get Ready
    7:30 AMBreakfast
    8:00 AMTravel to School
