Slide Deck

Welcome, Super Squad!

What makes a superhero super?
What are YOUR superpowers?

Welcome students and set an energetic tone. Ask students what makes someone a superhero and what their superpowers are. Connect this to their own inner strength.

Your Secret Superpower: Self-Care!

Self-care means taking good care of yourself to feel:
- Happy
- Healthy

What Makes You Feel Good?

Think about things you do that make you feel:
- Calm
- Energized
- Joyful
- Peaceful

Start brainstorming. Ask students for examples of things they do that make them feel better when they're sad, tired, or frustrated. Keep it open-ended for now.

Movement Superpowers!

Using your body to feel great!
- Dancing
- Running
- Stretching
- Playing outside
- Sports

Introduce the first category: Movement Superpowers. Give examples and ask students for more ideas. Emphasize how moving our bodies helps our mood.

Quiet Time Superpowers!

Giving your mind and body a rest!
- Reading a book

Reaching out and sharing!
- Talking to a friend or family member
- Writing a letter
- Helping someone else
- Playing a game with others

Introduce the third category: Connecting Superpowers. Explain how connecting with others or expressing ourselves can be a powerful form of self-care. Ask for examples.

Your Own Super Squad!

Time to discover your personal self-care superpowers!

Transition to the worksheet activity. Explain that they will now record their own unique self-care superpowers.

You Are a Self-Care Superhero!

You have the power to choose what makes you feel your best!

Conclude with a powerful message. Reinforce that they all have these tools within them.

Activity

Design Your Super Squad Badge!

Now that you know your self-care superpowers, it's time to create your very own Super Squad Badge! This badge will be a special reminder of all the ways you can take care of yourself to feel happy and strong.

Instructions:

  1. Think about your favorite self-care superpowers from your My Super Self-Care Worksheet.
  2. On your paper, design a badge. You can make it any shape you like! (e.g., a shield, a star, a cloud, a lightning bolt).
  3. Draw or write your self-care superpowers on your badge. Use colors, pictures, and words to show what makes you feel good. For example, if reading makes you feel calm, you might draw a book. If playing outside gives you energy, you might draw a tree or a ball.
  4. Give your badge a special name (optional, but fun!). Maybe it's "Captain Calm's Badge" or "The Energy Exploder Badge"!
  5. Be ready to share! We will show our badges and talk about our superpowers.

Here are some ideas for your badge:

  • Draw yourself doing your favorite self-care activity.
  • Use symbols for movement (like a running person), quiet time (like a book or a star), and connecting (like two people talking).
  • Write words like "Play!", "Read!", "Talk!", "Breathe!"
