Let’s dive in and review key concepts together!
Welcome everyone! Introduce today’s quick 30-minute review session. Emphasize we’re reinforcing key concepts and having fun with interactive activities.
Objectives & Purpose
Objective:
• Reinforce and assess understanding of key 7th-grade concepts through recall, guided review, an interactive quiz, and reflection.
Why This Matters:
• Pinpoint misconceptions
• Increase engagement
• Inform next steps for both students and teachers
Read aloud the objective and why. Stress the importance of identifying gaps and boosting confidence.
Warm-Up Recall (5 min)
- Teacher writes 3 rapid-fire questions on the whiteboard.
- Use Digital Question Cards to select volunteers.
- Students shout answers; teacher notes common errors for later review.
Explain the warm-up rules. Tell students to listen for rapid-fire questions and shout out answers. Use digital cards to call volunteers.
Guided Concept Review (10 min)
• Display key concepts from previous lesson.
• Work through one example together (think aloud).
• Invite two students to solve a second example on the board.
Guide students through a worked example. Model thinking aloud, then invite two students to solve the second example on the board. Highlight key steps.
Interactive Quiz (10 min)
• Launch the Interactive Concept Quiz on student devices.
• Pair up and discuss answers collaboratively.
• Teacher circulates to provide hints.
• Review correct answers as a class.
Show how to launch the quiz on devices. Encourage discussion in pairs. Monitor, offer hints, then debrief as a class.
Cool-Down Reflection (5 min)
• Hand out the Cool-Down Reflection Sheet.
• Students write:
– One concept they solidified today
– One question they still have
• Collect to inform future lessons.
Distribute reflection sheets. Ask students to write one concept they solidified and one lingering question. Collect sheets to guide future instruction.
Thank You & Next Steps
• Great job today!
• I’ll review your reflections to plan our next lesson.
• Feel free to ask any remaining questions after class.
Thank students for their participation. Remind them that you’ll use their reflections to plan the next lesson. Encourage them to ask any lingering questions after class.

Answer Key
Quick-Review Answer Key
1. Math: Solve for x
Problem: 3(x + 4) = 21
Solution Steps:
- Distribute the 3: 3·x + 3·4 = 21 ⇒ 3x + 12 = 21
- Subtract 12 from both sides: 3x + 12 – 12 = 21 – 12 ⇒ 3x = 9
- Divide both sides by 3: x = 9 ÷ 3 = 3
Answer: x = 3
2. Math: Simplify the ratio
Problem: 18 : 24
Solution Steps:
- Find the greatest common divisor of 18 and 24, which is 6.
- Divide both terms by 6: (18 ÷ 6) : (24 ÷ 6) = 3 : 4
Answer: 3 : 4
3. Science: Role of producers in an ecosystem
Prompt: Describe the role of producers (plants) in an ecosystem. Give at least two details.
Key Points (any two of the following):
- Producers perform photosynthesis, converting sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into glucose (food) and oxygen.
- They form the base of the food chain, supplying energy to herbivores (primary consumers).
- They release oxygen into the atmosphere, which is essential for respiration by animals.
- They help cycle nutrients—when plants die, they decompose and return nutrients to the soil.
Sample Response:
“Producers use sunlight to make food through photosynthesis and give off oxygen. They are the first level in the food chain and provide energy for animals.”
4. ELA: Main idea and supporting details
Paragraph:
"Many students find group projects challenging at first, but working together teaches important collaboration skills. Each member brings unique strengths, and by dividing tasks, the group can produce stronger work than any individual might alone. Over time, students also build communication skills and learn to respect different perspectives."
Answer:
- Main Idea: Group projects teach valuable collaboration and communication skills.
- Supporting Detail 1: Dividing tasks allows the group to produce stronger work than one person alone.
- Supporting Detail 2: Students build communication skills and learn to respect different perspectives.
(Any equivalent main idea with two matching details earns full credit.)
5. Social Studies: Causes and effects of Roman Republic expansion
Prompt: List two causes and two effects of the Roman Republic’s expansion.
Sample Answers:
- Cause 1: Desire for more land and resources to support a growing population.
- Cause 2: Strong, disciplined military and a policy of securing borders to protect Rome from invasion.
- Effect 1: Increased wealth and influx of resources (gold, grain, slaves) into Rome.
- Effect 2: Spread of Roman culture, law, and language across conquered territories—and later political tension at home due to disparities in wealth.
(Award one point for each accurate cause or effect; accept other valid historical reasons.)
