Teamwork Time Lesson Plan

Students will practice cooperation and sharing by engaging in interactive activities that require teamwork, listening, and taking turns, aiming to successfully complete group tasks and earn teamwork tokens.

Building cooperation skills helps students work effectively with peers, fosters a positive classroom environment, and lays the foundation for collaborative learning.

Step 1

Introduction to Teamwork

5 minutes

  • Gather students in a circle near the Teamwork Poster.
  • Point to the poster and say: “Today, we will work together to help each other succeed.”
  • Briefly explain teamwork: helping, listening, sharing, and taking turns.
  • Show the Teamwork Token Chart and explain tokens are awarded for positive teamwork behaviors.

Step 2

Cooperation Scenario Activity

10 minutes

  • Divide students into small groups of 3–4.
  • Give each group one Cooperation Scenario Cards.
  • Ask groups to act out their scenario, demonstrating ways to cooperate.
  • After each group presentation, highlight examples of cooperation and award a token to the group.

Step 3

Beanbag Passing Game

10 minutes

  • Have students stand on the spaced floor markers in a circle.
  • Demonstrate passing the beanbag around while calling out the next person’s name.
  • Encourage clear communication (e.g., “Your turn!”) and waiting patiently.
  • Continue for several rounds, awarding tokens for smooth teamwork and taking turns.

Step 4

Reflection and Closure

5 minutes

  • Gather students back in a circle.
  • Ask simple prompts: “What did you like about working together?”
  • Reinforce key teamwork skills: sharing, listening, and taking turns.
  • Award a final token and celebrate the class reaching a teamwork goal.

Practice cooperation & sharing together.

Welcome students! Point to the Teamwork Poster displayed at the front. Say: “Today we will learn how to work together and help our friends.”

Our Teamwork Rules

• Listen to friends
• Share materials
• Take turns
• Help each other

Explain: “When we work as a team, we listen, share, take turns, and help each other.” Show each rule on the poster as you say it.

Cooperation Scenarios

• In your group, pick one scenario card
• Talk about how you can cooperate
• Act it out for the class

Divide students into groups of 3–4 and hand out the Cooperation Scenario Cards. Say: “Your group will act out one of these scenarios.”

Beanbag Passing Game

  1. Stand on your spot in a circle
  2. Pass the beanbag and say the next friend’s name
  3. Wait patiently for your turn
  4. Keep passing until everyone goes

Have students stand on the floor markers. Demonstrate passing the beanbag while saying the next person’s name. Remind them to wait their turn and speak clearly.

Earning Teamwork Tokens

• Work together smoothly → earn a token
• Fill the chart as a class
• Celebrate when full!

Reveal the Teamwork Token Chart. Explain: “Each time we show good teamwork, we earn a token. When we fill the chart, we celebrate!”

Reflection Time

• What did you like about teamwork?
• Which rule was most fun?
• How did you help a friend?

Gather students back in a circle. Ask each child: “What did you like about working together?” Offer sentence frames if needed: “I liked when…”.

Great Job, Team!

You earned all your tokens!
Let’s give ourselves a big cheer!

Count the tokens on the chart and cheer as a class. Say: “Great job, everyone! You worked together like a super team!”

Cooperation Scenario Cards Activity

Use these scenario cards to help students practice teamwork through role-play and discussion. Print, cut, and laminate each card for durability.

Teacher Instructions

  • Print and cut out each scenario card.
  • Divide students into small groups of 3–4.
  • Give each group one card and ask them to read or listen to the scenario.
  • Encourage groups to talk about ways they can cooperate, then act out the situation.
  • After each presentation, highlight examples of sharing, listening, and taking turns, and award a teamwork token.

  1. Sharing Blocks
    Scenario: Two friends want to build a tower, but there is only one set of blocks.
    Prompt: How can you share the blocks so both friends can build together?






  2. Puzzle Piece
    Scenario: Your group has a puzzle, but you’re missing one piece.
    Prompt: What can you do to help each other find or fit the right pieces?






  3. Ball Pass
    Scenario: You need to pass a ball across a circle to a friend.
    Prompt: How can you pass the ball safely and kindly while waiting for your turn?






  4. Snack Time
    Scenario: There is only one snack bag left but two friends are waiting.
    Prompt: What is a fair way to decide who gets the snack first?






  5. Line-Up
    Scenario: Your class is lining up for recess, and someone cuts in front of you.
    Prompt: How can you wait patiently and help your friend without pushing?






  6. Cleaning Up
    Scenario: It’s time to clean up the art area, and the table is messy.
    Prompt: How can your group work together to clean up quickly and help each other?

Teamwork Token Chart

Use this chart to track our class’s teamwork successes. Print and display it where everyone can see!

How to Use:

  • Each time our group shows good teamwork (listening, sharing, taking turns, helping), add one token (sticker, star, or color in a circle).
  • When all circles are filled, we’ll celebrate as a super team!

Celebration Ideas (once full):
• Class high-five
• Play a favorite 2-minute song and dance
• Extra story time at the end of the day
