Step 1

Introduction

5 mins

Introduce the lesson by discussing what teamwork means. Ask the students if they have ever worked in a team and what their experiences were. Explain that today's activities will help them understand how to work better in a team.

Step 2

Activity 1: The Human Knot

10 mins

Participants stand in a circle, reach across to grab two other people's hands, and without letting go, work to untangle themselves into a circle. Rules: No one can let go of hands, except for safety reasons (twisting wrists, etc.). Debrief: Discuss the importance of communication and patience in teamwork.

Step 3

Activity 2: Maze Navigation

15 mins

Set up a 'maze' using cones and rope. Blindfold one person from the team while the rest of the team members guide them through the maze using verbal instructions only. Rules: The blindfolded person must follow their teammates' directions to navigate the maze without touching the boundaries. Debrief: Talk about the importance of clear communication and trust in teamwork.

Step 4

Activity 3: Building a Tower

10 mins

Provide each team with building blocks or cups. Each team must build the tallest tower possible within the time limit. Rules: Everyone must participate in the building process. Debrief: Discuss how planning and cooperation help achieve goals.

Reflection and Discussion

5 mins

Have students sit in a circle and discuss what they learned about teamwork today. Use the discussion questions to guide the conversation. Distribute the printable cards as reminders of key teamwork principles.
