Slide Deck

Task Triumphs! Mission Accomplished!

Ready to conquer your to-do list?

Introduce the lesson with an energetic tone. Ask students what 'task triumphs' might mean.

Break It Down! Mini-Missions!

Big task got you stuck?

  • Chop it up! Turn one big task into tiny, easy steps.
  • Focus Sprint! Do just one step for a short time (e.g., 2 minutes).
  • One Thing at a Time! Finish one mini-mission before starting another.

Explain that big tasks can feel overwhelming. Introduce the idea of breaking them into smaller, manageable 'sprints' or 'mini-missions'. Emphasize doing one thing at a time. This is key for focus, especially with ADHD.

You've Got This!

Try your own 'Focus Sprint' today!

  • Pick one small step.
  • Focus just on that step.
  • Feel the triumph of completion!

Conclude by encouraging students to try this strategy today. Reinforce the feeling of accomplishment.

Task Triumphs! Script

Introduction: The Challenge (1 minute)

(Teacher says while displaying Task Triumphs! Slide Deck - Slide 1)

"Good morning, everyone! Look at our first slide today: 'Task Triumphs! Mission Accomplished!' What do you think that means? What does it feel like to accomplish a mission, or finish a task?"

"Exactly! It feels great to finish something. But sometimes, tasks can feel really big, overwhelming, or maybe we get a little distracted. Has anyone ever felt that way?"

Break It Down! Mini-Missions! (3 minutes)

(Teacher says while displaying Task Triumphs! Slide Deck - Slide 2)

"Today, we're going to learn a super simple trick to make tasks feel less scary and more achievable. It's called 'Break It Down! Mini-Missions!'"

"Imagine you have a giant LEGO castle to build. Would you try to build it all at once? Probably not! You'd follow the instructions, piece by piece.

"Our brains work best when we give them one clear, small goal at a time. So, if you have a big task:

  • Chop it up! Turn one big task into tiny, easy steps. Instead of 'write my whole essay,' think 'write one paragraph.'
  • Focus Sprint! Do just one step for a short, focused time. Maybe set a timer for 2 or 5 minutes. Just work on that one step until the timer goes off.
  • One Thing at a Time! Finish one mini-mission before starting another. Don't jump between tasks!"

"This helps us really focus our energy, especially when our brains want to explore everything else around us! It helps us get to that 'Mission Accomplished!' feeling faster."

You've Got This! (1 minute)

(Teacher says while displaying Task Triumphs! Slide Deck - Slide 3)

"So, your challenge for today is to try a 'Focus Sprint.' When you have a task, even a small one, try to break it down, pick one mini-mission, and focus just on that for a short time. You'll be amazed at how quickly you can get things done!"

"Who's ready to try a 'Task Triumph' today? Fantastic! Let's go make some progress!"
