Reading

Short Reading Passage

Every morning, Lena visited Maple Grove Park before school. Soft sunlight filtered through the tall oaks and maples. Dew sparkled on the grass like tiny diamonds. Birds chirped happily as Lena walked along the winding path, greeting neighbors who walked dogs or jogged. The air smelled fresh, full of pine and earth. Today, Lena noticed a family of squirrels gathering acorns near an old oak tree. She paused to watch the lively creatures, amazed by their quick, graceful movements. The park’s peaceful atmosphere gave Lena energy and inspiration for her day ahead. Maple Grove Park was truly her favorite place to start each morning.

Questions

  1. What is the main idea of the passage?

  2. Give one supporting detail from the passage.
