Students will learn and practice essential social skills such as sharing, taking turns, and using kind words to get along with their peers.
Developing positive peer relationships is crucial for a child's social-emotional growth, self-esteem, and overall well-being. These early skills form the foundation for future successful interactions.

What makes a good friend?
Welcome students and introduce the topic of friendship. Ask open-ended questions to get them thinking.
When we share, everyone gets a turn.
It makes our friends feel good!
It makes us feel good too!
Reinforce the idea that sharing makes everyone happy.
Sometimes we can't all play with the same toy at the same time.
We can take turns!
One friend plays, then another friend plays.
Introduce the concept of taking turns. Provide examples relevant to preschoolers.
Our words are powerful!
Kind words make our friends feel happy.
Words like 'please,' 'thank you,' and 'may I play?'
Emphasize the importance of kind words. Discuss how words can make friends feel.
Now it's our turn to be sharing stars!
We will build together with blocks.
Remember to share and take turns.
After building, we will draw what we made on our 'Sharing Stars Activity Sheet'.
Introduce the group activity where students will practice sharing and taking turns with blocks. Explain the activity sheet.
We learned about sharing, taking turns, and kind words.
You are doing a great job being good friends!
Remind students what they learned and praise their efforts.
"Good morning, everyone! Let's talk about something super important today: being a good friend. Can you tell me, what do you think makes someone a good friend? What do good friends do?"
(Allow students to share ideas. Prompt with questions like: "Do good friends share?" "Do good friends help each other?")
"Those are wonderful ideas! We're going to learn about some special ways we can all be amazing friends today!"
"Today, I have a special story about sharing. Listen carefully to what the characters do and how they feel when they share or don't share."
(Read the chosen picture book about sharing. Pause at key moments to ask questions.)
"Look at [Character Name]! How do you think [Character Name] feels when [another character] doesn't share their toy?"
"What happens when [Character Name] decides to share? How does that make everyone feel?"
"What did we learn from this story about sharing?"
"Now it's our turn to be sharing stars! We're going to work in small groups and build something amazing with these colorful blocks!"
"Remember what we talked about? Sharing and taking turns! When you have a block, and your friend wants to use it, what can you do? That's right, you can share! And if you want a block your friend has, what kind words can you use? Like 'May I please have a turn?' or 'Can we share this block?'"
(Divide students into groups and distribute blocks. Circulate and observe, offering prompts and praise.)
"Wow, I see some excellent sharing happening here! [Student Name], you did a great job asking for a turn!"
"Look at how [Student A] and [Student B] are taking turns adding blocks to their tower! Super sharing stars!"
"After we finish building, we're going to draw what we built on our Sharing Stars Activity Sheet."
"Okay, everyone, let's come back together. You all did such a fantastic job today being sharing stars with the blocks!"
"Can each of you tell me one way you can be a 'sharing star' with your friends at school or at home?"
(Point to the Cool Down Chart and have each student share an idea. Write down or draw simple icons next to their names if possible.)
"Those are wonderful ideas! Remember, when we share, take turns, and use kind words, we make our classroom a happy place for everyone. You are all amazing friends, and I know you'll keep practicing these important skills!"
