Script

Teacher Script: Share & Care

Warm-Up: Friendship Circles (3 minutes)

"Good morning, friends! Today we're going to talk about something super important: being a good friend! To start, let's all sit in a big circle. I want each of you to think of one thing you like to do with a friend. When it's your turn, share your idea! I'll start: I love reading stories with my friends!"

(Allow each student to share. Offer prompts if needed, e.g., "Do you like to play? Or draw? Or talk?")

"Wonderful ideas, everyone! It sounds like we all love spending time with our friends. And guess what? To make sure everyone has fun, there are some special things we can do. Today we're going to learn about sharing and taking turns!"

Introduction to Sharing and Turn-Taking (5 minutes)

(Advance to Share & Care Slides - Slide 1: "Welcome to Our Friendship Circle!")

"Look at our first slide! It says 'Welcome to Our Friendship Circle!' Just like we talked about, being a good friend means making sure everyone feels happy and included."

(Advance to Share & Care Slides - Slide 2: "Sharing Is Caring!")

"Our next slide is about 'Sharing Is Caring!' Can anyone tell me what sharing means?"

(Wait for responses, guide them to concepts like 'letting others use your things' or 'giving someone some of what you have'.)

"That's right! Sharing means letting others use our toys, like when you let a friend play with your favorite block. Or sharing snacks, like giving a friend a piece of your apple. Even sharing smiles and kind words is a way to share! When we share, we show we care. Why do you think sharing is important?"

(Wait for responses, guide towards 'makes people happy', 'everyone gets a turn', 'no one feels left out'.)

"Those are great ideas! Sharing makes everyone feel good."

(Advance to Share & Care Slides - Slide 3: "Wait Your Turn!")

"Now, let's look at 'Wait Your Turn!' Who can tell me what taking turns means?"

(Wait for responses, guide them to concepts like 'waiting patiently', 'everyone gets a chance'.)

"Exactly! Taking turns means waiting patiently for your chance, like waiting for the swing at the playground, or waiting for your turn in a game. It also means listening when someone else is talking! Why is it important to take turns?"

(Wait for responses, guide towards 'fairness', 'everyone gets a chance', 'no one is left out'.)

"You've got it! Taking turns makes things fair and fun for everyone!"

Activity: Sharing Is Caring (5 minutes)

(Advance to Share & Care Slides - Slide 4: "Stronger Friends!")

"When we share and take turns, we make our friendships stronger, just like it says on our slide! Now, we're going to practice! I have some special cards called Sharing Is Caring Activity Cards. I'm going to divide you into small groups."

(Divide students into groups of 2-3.)

"In your groups, you will get a set of these cards. Each card has a picture of a situation. I want you to take turns picking a card and talking about how you would share or take turns in that situation. Remember to listen to your friends' ideas! I'll be walking around to hear your amazing ideas!"

(Circulate, listen to discussions, offer gentle prompts, e.g., "What if both friends want the red crayon? How can they take turns?")

Wrap-Up & Reflection (2 minutes)

"Alright, my wonderful sharers and turn-takers! Let's bring our attention back together. Did any group have a super interesting idea for sharing or taking turns that they want to share with everyone?"

(Allow 2-3 groups to briefly share an example.)

"Thank you for sharing! You all did such a great job practicing how to share and take turns. Remember, when we share and take turns, everyone feels happy, everyone gets to play, and our friendships become the strongest!"

Cool-Down: My Sharing Promise (Optional)

"Before you go today, I have one more special activity. I'm going to give each of you a paper called My Sharing Promise Cool-Down. On this paper, I want you to draw a picture or, if you like, write one way you will practice sharing or taking turns this week. Maybe you'll share your blocks, or take turns on the slide, or share a smile with a friend! Think about it and show me your promise!"

(Collect the cool-downs as an exit ticket.)
