Self-monitoring behavior

This lesson introduces kindergarten students to the concept of self-monitoring through a fun and interactive superhero theme. Students will learn how to recognize their own behaviors and practice self-regulation in a supportive environment. Step 1

Introduction

  • Explain that today, they will become 'Self-Monitoring Superheroes' who can recognize and control their own behaviors.

Step 2

Activity: Superhero Role-Play

  • Distribute the Printable Superhero Cards to each student.
  • Explain that each card has a superhero power related to self-monitoring, such as 'Focus Vision' or 'Calm Control.'
  • Have students role-play using their superhero powers in different scenarios, such as staying focused during a task or calming down when upset.

Discussion

  • Use the Self-Monitoring Discussion Questions to guide a conversation about how students felt using their superhero powers.
  • Encourage students to share which powers they found most helpful and how they can use them in real life.
