Game

Hygiene Bingo

Reinforce hygiene concepts with a fun, auditory and visual bingo game. Students listen for hygiene terms and mark their cards. First to get Bingo wins!

Materials

  • Hygiene Bingo cards (with 5×5 grid of hygiene words and pictures)
  • Calling cards (matching words and pictures)
  • Markers or chips
  • Small prizes or stickers (optional)

Preparation (5 minutes)

  • Print and distribute one Bingo card to each student.
  • Shuffle the Calling cards and place them face-down.
  • Provide each student with a small pile of markers or chips.

How to Play (20 minutes)

  1. Explain rules:
    • You will draw one Calling card at a time.
    • Show or say the word/picture (e.g., “Soap,” “Toothbrushing,” “Timer”).
    • Students look for that item on their Bingo card and cover it with a marker if they have it.
    • The goal is to get a complete row, column, or diagonal covered and shout “Bingo!”
  2. Model one sample round:
    • Draw a card: “Handwashing.”
    • Show the picture and say the word clearly.
    • Students cover “Handwashing” on their cards.
  3. Play multiple rounds:
    • After a student calls Bingo, check their card against the drawn Calling cards.
    • Award a small prize or sticker for each winner.
    • Clear cards and continue for a second or third round as time allows.

Variations

  • Picture-Only Calling: Show only the picture side of the card for extra challenge.
  • Race to Fill: Allow students to cover the entire card—first to full card wins.

Reflection & Cool Down (5 minutes)

  1. Gather students in a circle.
  2. Ask:
    • Which hygiene item did you cover most often? Why is it important?

    • What new word or picture did you learn today?

  3. Stretch and give yourself a “clean hands” clap!
