This is the title slide. Ask students to enter their name, the date, and identify their chosen CASEL competency. Model how you might fill one in.

Superpower Name & Icon

What is your SEL Superpower?

Insert or draw a visual representation here.

Invite students to name their superpower and add a visual. They can insert an image, emoji, or sketch directly on the slide.

Real-Life Example

Describe a time you used this superpower:

  • What happened?
  • Who was involved?
  • What was the outcome?

Prompt students to write 2–3 bullet points or a short paragraph describing when they used their superpower this year.

Impact on Me & Others

How did this superpower help you?

How did it affect the people around you?

Which SEL skill will you focus on next?

My action step: _______________________

Timeline: _______________________

Guide students to set a future goal. Emphasize SMART steps and timeline (e.g., “I will practice active listening by asking one question in every conversation this week”).

Final Reflection & Visual

Share a quote, doodle, or sticker that captures your SEL journey.

A fun closing slide—students can add a quote, doodle, or sticker that represents their SEL journey.

Superpower Trading Cards Activity

Students design personalized trading cards showcasing their SEL superpower, trade cards with peers while sharing compliments, and reflect on insights gained from classmates’ strengths.

Materials:

  • Blank Superpower Trading Cards template (3×5 index card or printable)
  • Markers, colored pencils, stickers, stencils (optional)

Card Template Layout:
• Front Side: Student Name | SEL Superpower Name | Icon or Symbol

• Back Side:

  • Real-life example of when it was used this year
  • 2–3 key strengths or highlights

Instructions (10 minutes):

  1. Distribute blank card templates to each student.
  2. Front Side: Write your name, your SEL superpower name, and draw an icon or symbol that represents it.
  3. Back Side: Describe your superpower, share a concrete example from this year, and list your top strengths.
  4. Encourage creativity—colors, doodles, motivational slogans. Allow 7 minutes for completion.

Trading Rules (3 minutes):

  1. Students stand up and mingle around the room.
  2. When two students meet, they exchange cards and each gives a genuine compliment about the peer’s superpower.
  3. Continue until each student collects at least three different cards.

• "What strengths or themes did you notice across your classmates’ cards?"

Discussion

Celebration Circle Discussion Guide

Purpose:
This circle discussion empowers students to reflect on their SEL growth, celebrate peers’ strengths, and identify next steps within a supportive community.

Guidelines:

  • Sit in a circle so everyone is visible.
  • Use a talking piece (object passed around) to ensure one speaker at a time.
  • Practice active listening: make eye contact, nod, and refrain from interrupting.
  • Offer positive, respectful feedback when prompted.

Discussion Prompts:

  1. What SEL skill did you grow most in this year?
    • Follow-up: What experience or challenge helped you grow this skill?

  2. How did a peer’s superpower inspire or support you?
    • Follow-up: Can you share a moment when you noticed their strength in action?

  3. Which CASEL competency will you focus on next?
    • Follow-up: What’s one concrete step you can take this week to build that skill?

  4. In what ways have our collective superpowers shaped our classroom community?
    • Follow-up: How can we continue to leverage our strengths to support each other?

Facilitation Tips:

  • Pass the talking piece around clockwise; allow students to “pass” once if they prefer to listen.
  • Encourage short, focused responses (30–60 seconds).
  • Acknowledge each student’s contribution with a simple thank-you or nod.
  • If conversation stalls, prompt with a personal anecdote or example to model openness.
  • Close the circle by inviting one student to summarize key insights or appreciations.
