Emergency Protocol Interactive Review
Welcome!
In this self-paced review, you’ll explore three emergency protocols:

• Hold/Secure/Shelter
• Lockdown
Click each section hotspot to dive into details and answer questions as you go.
Welcome students to the asynchronous Emergency Protocol Interactive Review. Explain that they will explore three key response protocols—Evacuation, Hold/Secure/Shelter, and Lockdown—by clicking on on-screen hotspots and answering embedded questions. Let them know to pause if they need more time and to note any questions for the full lesson.
Evacuation Protocol
Hotspot ▶️ Details
• Stay calm
• Follow adult directions
• Quickly & quietly exit the building
• RUN when directed

• Remain inside until all-clear
• Close and lock doors & windows
Hotspot 🎯 Question:

Lockdown – HIDE!

• Be completely silent (no devices)
• Lock & block doors, close blinds, turn off lights
• Stay out of sight until help arrives
Hotspot 🎯 Question:
List two actions you can take to remain unnoticed during a lockdown.
Emphasize the importance of total silence and concealment during lockdown. Encourage vivid visualization.
Reflect & Prepare
Now that you’ve reviewed each protocol, reflect:
- Which step was most clear? Why?
- Which step needs more explanation?
- What questions do you have?
After answering, open your Personal Safety Reflection Journal to record your responses.
Remind students to jot down any parts they found unclear and prepare questions for the full lesson. Direct them to the reflection journal afterward.
Summary: Plan • Prepare • Practice
Remember:
- Plan: Know what to do before an emergency.
- Prepare: Review and practice steps regularly.
- Practice: Drill routines so you react confidently.
You’re now ready for our full Safety Lesson—great work!
Wrap up by reinforcing the Plan–Prepare–Practice cycle. Encourage students to carry these protocols forward.
