Rhythms of Heritage Lesson Plan
Students will practice reading fluency and comprehension by exploring an informational text about Bad Bunny and Hispanic Heritage Month, then complete a guided worksheet to reinforce cultural vocabulary and understanding.
This lesson builds cultural pride and diversity awareness while strengthening group fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills in a small-group setting.

- Conduct a choral read-aloud: teacher reads first sentence, students repeat

Informational Reading: Bad Bunny & Hispanic Heritage Month

Introduce the lesson title and connect to the theme of celebrating cultural heritage through music and stories. Explain we will learn about Bad Bunny and Hispanic Heritage Month.

Reading: Bad Bunny’s Story
“Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, known as Bad Bunny, is a singer and rapper from Puerto Rico. He uses his music to celebrate his culture and speak about important issues. During Hispanic Heritage Month, people honor the traditions, music, and heroes of Hispanic communities. Bad Bunny often performs at events that bring families and friends together to celebrate their heritage.”
Distribute the Bad Bunny Informational Text. Conduct choral reading: read the first sentence, then have students repeat. Pause to point out vocabulary words on this slide.
