Today's Objectives

  • Explore key categories of local resources
  • Review examples of trusted services and supports
  • Brainstorm additional community offerings to evaluate

Read through each objective aloud, pausing briefly for any quick questions. Emphasize that today is collaborative and hands-on.

Resource Categories

  • Academic Support (tutoring, homework help)
  • Health & Wellness (clinics, counseling)
  • Family Services (food pantries, parent workshops)
  • Enrichment Opportunities (clubs, sports, arts)

Explain each category, asking families if they’ve used or heard of services in these areas.

Brainstorm: Your Local Favorites

  • What other programs or services does your family use?
  • Which neighborhood supports have you heard about?
  • Are there gaps in local offerings you’d like to address?

Explain the brainstorming process and record steps. Hand out sticky notes or capture ideas in a shared chart.

Next Step: Record & Evaluate

• Record your brainstormed resources on the evaluation worksheet
• Note key details: name, contact, cost, accessibility
• Be ready to discuss reliability and relevance

Transition to the Resource Exploration activity. Remind families to capture their ideas on the worksheet for the next step.
