Reputation Rangers
Conscious Social Behavior • Leadership • Building a Positive Reputation
30-Minute Session | 6th Grade Boys | Tier 1 Lesson
Welcome everyone! Today we’re going to learn about reputation, leadership, and how our actions shape what others think of us. Use this slide deck to guide our discussion and activities.
What Is Reputation?
• Reputation is what others think of you based on your actions and words.
• It takes small choices every day to build or damage it.
• A strong reputation earns trust, respect, and influence.
Define reputation in your own words, then show the slide. Ask students: “What would you say reputation means?” Capture a few responses before revealing the definition.
Respectful vs. Disrespectful Behaviors
Respectful Behaviors:
- Listening when someone speaks
- Helping classmates when stuck
- Using polite language
Disrespectful Behaviors:
- Interrupting others
- Excluding someone from a group
- Using hurtful words
Invite volunteers to share one respectful and one disrespectful behavior. Write examples on the board as students speak.
Leadership by Example
• Leaders model respectful behavior.
• They encourage and support others.
• Good leaders earn respect through positive choices.
Explain that leadership isn’t about being bossy—it’s about showing others how to do the right thing. Ask: “Who is a leader you admire?”
Reputation Relay Game
- Split into two teams and line up behind cones.
- At “Go,” first player races to the other end.
- Picks a Leader Role-Play Scenario Cards card.
- Reads it, acts out a respectful response.
- Teammates decide if it builds a positive reputation.
- Correct responses earn Teamwork Tokens.
- Tag the next player and repeat until all cards are used.
Introduce the game rules clearly. Demonstrate how to pick a scenario card and act out a respectful response. Emphasize teamwork and earning tokens.
Reflection Activity
• Distribute Reputation Reflection Worksheet.
• Prompt: “Write one action you will take this week to strengthen your reputation as a leader.”
• Encourage specific and realistic commitments.
Pass out the worksheets and explain the prompt. Circulate to help students craft specific, meaningful commitments.
Wrap-Up & Share
• Volunteers share their written commitments.
• Highlight how small actions lead to lasting reputation.
• Remind students to award tokens when they see positive leadership in peers.
Invite a few volunteers to share their commitments. Reinforce how daily choices build reputation. Explain how to use tokens as reminders.
