Slide Deck

Planning Power-Up!

Let’s learn how to plan our day like superheroes.

Welcome everyone to our Planning Power-Up! Today, we’re going to learn how to plan our day step by step—just like superheroes preparing for a mission. Get ready for some fun visuals and activities!

Why Plan?

🔹 Know what comes next 🔹 Stay organized 🔹 Feel calm

Explain why planning is important. Point to each icon as you say the benefit: a clock for knowing what comes next, a star for feeling calm, and a checkmark for staying organized.

What Is a Routine?

A routine is a set of steps we do every day in the same order.

Define routine. Show a simple flow of steps on the slide. Ask students: “What routines do you have at home or school?”

Morning Routine Example

  1. Wake up ⏰
  2. Brush teeth 🪥
  3. Eat breakfast 🥣
  4. Get dressed 👕

Talk through each step with visuals: point to the icons or drawings you add on the slide software. Encourage students to name the steps they see.

Putting Steps in Order

• Step 1 → Step 2 → Step 3 → Step 4
• We number our tasks and follow them!

Introduce sequencing. Draw arrows or numbers on the slide to show order. Ask a student volunteer to point out step 1, then step 2, and so on.

Let’s Practice Planning

Think of a daily task.
What’s step 1? What comes next?

Invite students to think-pair-share: ask them to whisper to a partner one task they do every day and the first step they take.

Create Your Own Planner

Grab your planner template and art supplies!
Draw or glue icons for each step of your routine.

Hand out the DIY Daily Planner Template. Explain that they will draw or glue icons for each step in their own routine. Show an example planner entry on the slide.

Warm Up

Warm-Up: Task Treasure Hunt

Description: Students hunt for cards with daily routine icons around the room, name each task, and place it on a class chart to build vocabulary, sequencing skills, and engagement.

  • Task Icon Cards
  • Class Chart Poster
  • Adhesive Putty or Magnets

Prep (10 minutes):

  • Hide the Task Icon Cards around the room in visible spots

Steps (10 minutes):

  1. Explain the Hunt
    • Tell students they will go on a treasure hunt around the classroom to find pictures of daily tasks.
    • Show one example card and demonstrate how to attach it to the chart.
  2. Go Treasure Hunting
    • On your signal, students quietly search for one Task Icon Card each.
    • When they find it, they bring it to the chart area.
  3. Name and Match
    • At the chart, each student names the task on their card and attaches it under the correct category (e.g., Morning, After School).
    • Provide picture prompts or one-on-one support as needed.
  4. Group Discussion
    • Ask volunteers to describe the sequence: “What should we do first in the morning? What comes next?”
