Ready for Emotion Adventure?

A summer-themed treasure hunt to explore our emotions!

Welcome, everyone! Today we’re kicking off our summer Emotion Adventure. Get ready for a fun treasure hunt to learn about your feelings and how to manage them.

Feelings Check-In

• Pick a card that shows how you feel today.
• Share your choice and why with a partner.

Distribute the Feelings Check-In Cards now. Ask each student to pick a card that matches how they feel, then turn to a neighbor and share.

Quest Briefing

We have 4 Emotion Stations:

  1. Emotion Identification
  2. Self-Awareness Puzzle
  3. Self-Management Maze
  4. Emotion Charades

• Teams of 3–4
• 5 minutes per station
• Collect a sticker at each stop

Display this slide. Explain that there are four stations. Students will split into teams, spend 5 minutes at each station, collect stickers, then rotate on cue.

Station 1: Emotion Identification

Match each emotion word to the correct facial expression cards.

Station 1 focuses on recognizing feelings. Remind students to match words like “happy,” “angry,” and “surprised” to facial expressions.

Station 2: Self-Awareness Puzzle

Sort short scenario cards by the emotion each one brings up.

Station 2 encourages noticing how situations make us feel. Guide them to talk through their sorting answers if they need support.

Station 3: Self-Management Maze

Navigate the paper maze by selecting a calming strategy at each turn.

Station 3 is about choosing a calming strategy. Encourage students to discuss options like deep breaths or counting to five.

Station 4: Emotion Charades

Act out an emotion without speaking while your team guesses.

Station 4 gets everyone moving and thinking on their feet. Demonstrate one quick charade if students seem unsure.

Reflection Time

In your Reflection Sun Journal:
• Your favorite station and why
• One new strategy you’ll try next time

Hand out Reflection Sun Journals. Give students time to write or draw, then invite a few volunteers to share.

Celebration!

Congratulations, Emotion Explorers!
You’ve earned your badges.
Remember these strategies and stay curious about your feelings all summer.

Praise their hard work, hand out small badges or certificates, and remind them they can be emotion explorers all summer long!
