Peace Dove Sculptures
Understand symbols of peace
In this lesson, students will create sculptures of doves using various materials such as Playdough, Foam Sheets, Air-Dry Clay, Model Magic, or Cardstock as symbols of peace. This activity will introduce young learners to the concept of peace and the importance of peacekeeping efforts. By engaging in a creative project, students will develop fine motor skills and learn about conflict resolution in a simple, age-appropriate manner.

Step 1
Introduction to Peace

- Gather students in a circle.
- Ask them what they think peace means.
- Explain that peace is when people get along and are kind to each other.
Step 2
Demonstration

- Show students a picture of a dove and explain that it is a symbol of peace.
- Demonstrate how to shape the chosen material into a simple dove shape.
Step 3
Sculpture Activity
20 mins
- Distribute materials to each student.
- Guide them in creating their own dove sculptures using their chosen material.
- Encourage creativity and offer help as needed.
Step 4
Painting and Decorating
10 mins
- Once the sculptures are shaped, provide paints and brushes.
- Allow students to paint and decorate their doves.
- Remind them to be gentle with their sculptures.
Step 5
Discussion and Sharing
5 mins
- Gather students to share their sculptures.
- Ask them how they felt while making their doves.
- Discuss how they can be peacemakers in their daily lives.
- Recap the importance of peace and being kind to others.
- Thank students for their participation and creativity.
