Our Journey, Our Toolkit!

Reflecting on our growth and looking to the future!

Welcome students to the final lesson. Briefly introduce the day's focus: celebrating their journey in positive psychology and looking ahead. Emphasize that this is a time to reflect and acknowledge their growth.

Review: Name That Strategy!

Let's jog our memories!

I'll describe a strategy, and you tell me what it is!

Explain the 'Name That Strategy!' game. Describe a positive psychology strategy (e.g., "Thinking about what you are grateful for each day") and have students call out the name of the strategy (e.g., "Gratitude"). Keep it quick and engaging to refresh their memory of key concepts. Encourage participation from everyone.

Your Toolkit: What Have You Learned?

Time to reflect!

What strategies have become part of YOUR positive psychology toolkit? How will you use them in your life?

Introduce the "My Positive Psychology Toolkit" Handout. Explain that this is a personal reflection activity where they will think about the strategies they've learned and how they will use them. Encourage them to be thoughtful and specific. Mention that they will be given a "My Positive Psychology Toolkit" Handout for this activity.

Share Your Journey

What discoveries did you make? How will these strategies help you grow?

Transition to sharing. Remind students of the importance of a supportive and respectful environment. Ask for volunteers to share one or two insights from their handouts. Prompt them with questions like, "Who discovered a strategy that really resonated with them?" or "What's one way you plan to use a strategy this week?"

Celebrating Each Other

Let's spread some positivity!

Write a note of appreciation to at least two classmates, highlighting something positive you've noticed about them.

Explain the Peer Appreciation Circle next. Distribute small slips of paper or sticky notes for students to write appreciation notes. Give clear instructions: write one positive observation or appreciation for at least two classmates. Emphasize focusing on specific positive qualities or contributions to the class environment. Encourage kindness and thoughtfulness. Collect notes for redistribution or facilitate direct exchange.

What's Next for Your Toolkit?

Your journey in positive psychology is just beginning! Keep practicing, keep growing, and keep shining!

Conclude the lesson by reiterating the core message: their journey in positive psychology is ongoing. Encourage them to continue practicing these strategies and to be mindful of their well-being. Offer final words of encouragement and celebrate their hard work throughout the unit.

Appreciation Notes for Peers

It's time to celebrate each other and spread some positive energy! Throughout our positive psychology journey, we've not only learned about ourselves but also about the wonderful qualities in our classmates.

Instructions:

  1. Take at least two small slips of paper or sticky notes.
  2. On each slip, write an appreciation note for a different classmate. Do not write your name on the note. These will be anonymous.
