Our Farewell Celebration!

Students will be able to share one thing they learned about themselves or a peer during the group.

This lesson helps students acknowledge their personal growth, appreciate their peers, and create a positive memory of their time together. It reinforces the value of reflection and positive social connections.

Step 1

Festive Welcome & Check-In

5 minutes

  • Greet students warmly and set a positive, celebratory tone.
    - Display the first slide of the Celebration Slideshow.
    - Ask students to share one word that describes how they are feeling about the farewell celebration.
    - Transition by saying: "Today, we're going to celebrate all the amazing things we've learned and the friendships we've built!"

Step 2

“Remember When...” Group Reflection

10 minutes

  • Distribute the “I've Grown!” Reflection Sheet.
    - Display the relevant slide on the Celebration Slideshow to guide their reflection.
    - Instruct students to think about one thing they learned about themselves or a peer during their time in the group.
    - Encourage them to write down their thoughts on the reflection sheet.
    - After a few minutes, invite volunteers to share their reflections with the whole group. Facilitate a brief discussion, highlighting common themes of growth and learning.

Step 3

Kindness Compliment Circle

10 minutes

  • Explain the activity: Each student will give a compliment to the person next to them, focusing on something positive they observed or appreciated about that person during their time together.
    - Model how to give a meaningful compliment.
    - Go around the circle, ensuring everyone has a chance to both give and receive a compliment.
    - Emphasize active listening and positive affirmation.

Step 4

Certificate Ceremony

3 minutes

  • Display the appropriate slide on the Celebration Slideshow.
    - Distribute the personalized Certificate of Awesome to each student.
    - Acknowledge their hard work and contributions throughout the year. "You are all awesome!"

Step 5

Group Celebration Closing

2 minutes

  • Conclude with a positive and forward-looking message.
    - Thank students for their participation and for making the group a special place.
    - Encourage them to carry the lessons and friendships forward.
    - Display the final slide of the Celebration Slideshow and lead a celebratory cheer or a moment of appreciation.
