Our Caring Counselor's Song!

(Tune: "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star")

Counselor, counselor, shining bright,
Helps us feel all day and night.
When we're sad or when we're glad,
They listen close, they understand.
Counselor, counselor, friend so true,
Always there for me and you!

Script

Our Caring Counselor's Song Script

Introduction (Teacher)

"Good morning, everyone! We're going to learn about a very special helper at our school today. This grown-up helps us with our feelings and how we get along with our friends. They are a super listener! To help us remember what they do, we're going to sing a song!"

Our Caring Counselor's Song (Teacher and Students)

(Tune: "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star")

Teacher: "Ready to sing? Let's use our voices and our hands to show what the counselor does!"

Sing together, encouraging students to make simple hand motions (e.g., pointing to self for 'me and you', hands over heart for 'feelings', cupping ear for 'listen').

Counselor, counselor, shining bright,

Helps us feel all day and night.

When we're sad or when we're glad,

They listen close, they understand.

Counselor, counselor, friend so true,

Always there for me and you!

Discussion (Teacher)

"Wow, that was a wonderful song! What did you hear in the song that our counselor helps with?"

Allow students to respond. Guide them to key concepts.

"Yes! They help us with our feelings! Can you show me a happy face? Can you show me a sad face? A silly face? Our counselor helps us talk about ALL of our feelings."

"What else did the song say? They listen close, right? Our counselor is a great listener, and it's okay to tell them anything that's on your mind. They are a safe person to talk to."

"And they are a friend so true, always there for me and you! That means they care about everyone and want to help us have a happy day at school."
