New Year, New Stories

Encourage creative storytelling

This lesson encourages Grade 1 students to share imaginative stories about adventures they wish to embark on in 2024. Through creative expression, students will articulate their aspirations and individual creativity. This activity not only fosters imagination but also helps in developing communication skills and confidence in sharing ideas.

Step 1

Introduction

5 minutes

Welcome students to the new year and introduce the theme of new adventures.
Explain that they will be creating stories about adventures they wish to have in 2024.

Step 2

Story Planning

10 minutes

Distribute the 'Story Planning' worksheet.
Guide students to think about what kind of adventure they want to have.
Encourage them to draw or write their ideas using crayons and post-it notes.

Step 3

Story Creation

10 minutes

Allow students to expand on their ideas from the worksheet.
Encourage them to add details to their stories, such as characters, settings, and events.

Step 4

Sharing Stories

8 minutes

Invite students to share their stories with the class.
Encourage positive feedback and questions from peers.

Step 5

Closure

2 minutes

Recap the activity and highlight the creativity shown by the students.
Encourage them to think about how they can make their stories come true in real life.
