Welcome students back and create a positive atmosphere. Briefly review the warm-up activity and connect it to the idea of looking forward.

What Are Goals? ¿Qué son las Metas?

English:

  • A goal is something you want to achieve or do.
  • It gives you a direction!

Español:

  • Una meta es algo que quieres lograr o hacer.
  • ¡Te da una dirección!

Introduce the topic of goals. Ask students what they think a 'goal' is. Use simple language and gestures. Emphasize that everyone has goals.

Why Set Goals? ¿Por Qué Establecer Metas?

English:

  • Goals help you work towards what you want.
  • They make you feel good when you achieve them.
  • They help you learn and grow!

Español:

  • Las metas te ayudan a trabajar por lo que quieres.
  • Te hacen sentir bien cuando las logras.
  • ¡Te ayudan a aprender y crecer!

Explain why goals are important. Connect it to personal growth and success. Ask students for ideas on why goals are helpful.

SMART Goals: Metas SMART

English: Goals should be SMART!

  • Specific: Clear and exact. (¿Qué?)
  • Measurable: You can track progress. (¿Cuánto? ¿Cómo sabré?)
  • Achievable: Possible to do. (¿Puedo hacerlo?)
  • Relevant: Important to you. (¿Es importante para mí?)
  • Time-bound: Has a deadline. (¿Cuándo?)

  • De tiempo definido: Tiene una fecha límite. (¿Cuándo?)

Introduce the SMART acronym. Explain each letter clearly with simple examples. Focus on 'Specific' and 'Measurable' first, as they are often the most challenging.

  • SMART: "Voy a mejorar mi calificación de matemáticas a una B para el final del semestre, asistiendo a tutorías dos veces por semana y completando toda la tarea."
