Objective

Students will discuss and debate the question: “Will AI enhance or replace human jobs in 2050?”

Guidelines

• Take turns speaking and listen to each other.
• Speak respectfully and use positive language.
• Support your ideas with examples or reasons.
• Use the sentence starters provided to help form your arguments.

Steps

1. Pick Your Side (2 minutes)

• Team A – AI Enhances Human Jobs
• Team B – AI Replaces Human Jobs

2. Brainstorm Arguments (5 minutes)

Each mini-team writes 2 arguments for their side. Use these sentence starters:

Team A – AI Enhances:

3. Create an Example Scenario (3 minutes)

• Key change (enhanced or replaced)

“By 2050, nurses work alongside AI robots that monitor patients’ vital signs every second. This lets nurses spend more time talking and comforting patients.”

4. Conduct the Debate (5 minutes)

• Team A presents their 2 arguments (1 minute).
• Team B presents their 2 arguments (1 minute).
• Each team asks one question to the other (1 minute).
• Quick closing statements: 30 seconds per team.

5. Reflection & Wrap-Up (5 minutes)

• Whole-class share: Which side had the strongest points? Why?
• Think-pair-share: What surprised you about AI’s role in future jobs?
