What are "Holiday Hues"? (Emotions)
The holidays can bring many different feelings, like a rainbow of colors!
- Joy & Excitement: Gifts, parties, seeing loved ones.
- Stress & Overwhelm: Too much to do, busy schedules.
- Disappointment: When things don't go as planned.
- Loneliness: Missing people or traditions.
- Gratitude: Being thankful for what you have.
What 'holiday hues' have you felt?
Ask students to brainstorm different emotions they might feel during the holidays. Guide them to think about both positive and challenging emotions.
What are "Holiday Hues"? (Expectations)
Expectations are what we think will happen or want to happen.
- Perfect gifts: Hoping for something specific.
- Amazing family gatherings: Everyone gets along, no arguments.
- Special events: Parties, trips, traditions.

Discuss different expectations students, their families, or friends might have. Emphasize that expectations can be big or small.
Managing Your Holiday Hues: Communication
It's okay to have feelings and expectations! The key is learning how to manage them.
Communication is key!
- Speak Up: Share your feelings and needs kindly.

- Listen: Understand others' feelings too.
- Be Clear: Say what you mean, politely.
Why is it sometimes hard to talk about our feelings?
