My Social Superpowers!

Unlocking Your Social Potential!

Welcome students and get them excited about exploring their social skills. Ask them what they think 'superpowers' mean.

What Are Social Skills?

  • Talking and Listening
    - Sharing and Taking Turns
    - Understanding Feelings (yours and others!)
    - Working Together
    - Being a Good Friend
    - Solving Problems Peacefully

Prompt students to share examples of social skills they use every day, like sharing, listening, or saying 'please' and 'thank you.'

Why Are They Important?

  • Make friends and keep them!
  • Work well with others in school and games.
  • Understand different points of view.
  • Feel confident in different situations.
  • Be a positive person!

Discuss how good social skills help us make friends, work in groups, and feel good about ourselves. Ask: 'Why do you think these skills are important?'

Time for Self-Assessment!

Today, we're going to think about our own social superpowers.

This isn't a test, but a chance for you to:

  • Notice what you do well.
  • Discover areas where you can grow.
  • Set goals to become an even better social superstar!

Explain that this isn't a test, but a chance to think about themselves. Emphasize honesty and that it's okay to have areas to grow in.

Your Reflection Time

Take out your "My Social Superpowers! Self-Assessment" worksheet.

Read each question carefully and think about how you usually act.

There are no right or wrong answers, just your honest thoughts!

Distribute the worksheet. Explain that they will have time to complete it quietly and thoughtfully. Remind them to be honest with themselves.

What's Your Next Social Skill Goal?

Great job reflecting today!

Think about:

  • What is one social skill you want to practice more?
  • How will you try to use this skill this week?

Keep shining!

Before students leave, ask them to think about one thing they want to improve. No need to share aloud.
