Step 2

Guided Mirror Reflection

7 minutes

Affirmation Practice

8 minutes

  • Hand each student a card from Mirror Affirmations
  • Model reading an affirmation aloud while looking in the mirror (e.g., “I am kind.”)

  • We will practice positive words about ourselves
  • Get ready to have fun and feel proud!

Welcome students and introduce today’s lesson. Say: “Today, we’ll use mirrors to discover our strengths and practice positive self-talk. Ready to shine your light?”

Guided Mirror Reflection

  • Pick up your mirror and look at your face
  • Notice one thing you see (e.g., your smile)
  • Share your observation with a partner

Distribute mirrors. Prompt students: “Look at yourself. What do you notice? Your eyes? Your hair? Your smile?” Encourage neutral observations first.

Affirmation Practice

  • Read your affirmation card aloud while looking at your reflection
  • Repeat the phrase 3 times with confidence
  • Example: “I am brave.”
