Practice mindfulness techniques

In this lesson, students will learn and practice mindfulness techniques to help them relax and focus. These activities are designed to improve their mental well-being and help them excel in various aspects of their lives.

Step 1

Introduction to Mindfulness

5 mins

  • Briefly explain what mindfulness is: paying full attention to something and slowing down to really notice what you're doing.
  • Discuss the benefits of mindfulness, such as reducing stress and helping with focus.

Step 2

Guided Mindfulness Activity

15 mins

  • Lead students through a simple guided mindfulness exercise:
    • Ask students to sit comfortably and close their eyes.
    • Encourage them to take deep breaths in and out, focusing only on their breathing.
    • Guide them to notice the sensations of their breath, how their body feels, and any sounds they hear.
    • Instruct them to gently bring their attention back if their mind starts to wander.

Reflection Discussion

10 mins

  • Discuss how they felt during the mindfulness exercise.
  • Ask what they noticed and if they found it easy or difficult to focus.
  • Encourage them to think about when and how they might use mindfulness techniques in their daily lives.
