Explore body awareness and emotions

This lesson invites Pre-K students to explore body awareness and emotional expression through a guided music and movement session. Step 1

  • Lead students in a simple stretching routine to soft music.
  • Encourage them to notice how their bodies feel as they stretch.
  • Ask them to take deep breaths and relax their bodies.

Step 3

Guided Music and Movement

7 minutes

  • Play a selection of soft, calming music.
  • Guide students through a series of movements (e.g., swaying, stretching, jumping) that match the music.
  • Encourage them to express different emotions through their movements (e.g., happy, sad, excited).
  • Use printable emotion cards to help them identify and express their feelings.

Cool-Down and Reflection

  • Have students sit in a circle and take deep breaths to calm down.
  • Ask them to share how they felt during the activity and which movements they enjoyed the most.
