Mindful Music Exploration

Promote mindfulness through music

This lesson introduces students to mindfulness through the use of calming music. Students will listen to selected tracks while focusing on their breathing and emotional responses. This activity promotes relaxation and encourages students to explore their feelings in a safe and structured manner, helping them develop emotional awareness and stress management skills.

Step 1

Introduction to Mindfulness

5 minutes

  • Discuss how music can be used as a tool for mindfulness and relaxation.
  • Set the intention for the session: to explore emotions and relaxation through music.

Step 2

Guided Listening Activity

15 minutes

  • Have students sit comfortably and close their eyes.
  • Play a calming music track.
  • Guide students to focus on their breathing and notice any emotions or thoughts that arise.
  • Encourage them to let go of any tension and simply be present with the music.

Step 3

Reflection and Discussion

10 minutes

  • Distribute the Reflection Worksheet.
  • Allow students a few minutes to jot down their thoughts and feelings experienced during the listening activity.
  • Facilitate a group discussion using the provided questions to explore students' experiences and insights.
