Introduce mindfulness techniques

This lesson introduces 7th-grade students to mindfulness techniques such as deep breathing and body scanning. Step 1

Step 2

Deep Breathing Exercise

10 mins

  • Guide students through a deep breathing exercise:
    • Inhale slowly through the nose for a count of four.
    • Hold the breath for a count of four.
    • Exhale slowly through the mouth for a count of four.
    • Repeat for several cycles.
  • Encourage students to notice how their body feels during the exercise.

Step 3

Body Scanning Technique

10 mins

  • Lead students in a body scanning exercise:
    • Ask them to close their eyes and take a few deep breaths.
    • Guide them to focus on each part of their body, starting from the toes and moving up to the head.
    • Encourage them to notice any sensations without trying to change them.
