Mindful Moments

Improve emotional well-being

This lesson introduces Achievers to mindfulness techniques and stress-relief exercises. Students will learn simple strategies to improve their emotional well-being through mindfulness. Practicing these techniques can help students manage stress, increase focus, and enhance their overall mental health.

Step 1

Introduction to Mindfulness

5 mins

  • Welcome students and explain the concept of mindfulness.
  • Share benefits of mindfulness such as improved focus, reduced stress, and better emotional regulation.
  • Briefly introduce the mindfulness activity.

Step 2

Guided Mindfulness Exercise

10 mins

  • Ask students to sit comfortably on yoga mats or seats.
  • Lead them through a 5-10 minute guided mindfulness exercise focusing on breathing.
  • Suggest students close their eyes and pay attention to their breathing.
  • Encourage them to notice the sensation of their breath and gently bring their focus back if their mind wanders.

Step 3

Discussion on Stress and Relief Techniques

10 mins

  • Facilitate a discussion on what stress feels like and common stressors.
  • Ask students to share moments when they felt stressed and what they did to feel better.
  • Introduce and explain 3 simple stress relief techniques: deep breathing, visualization, and counting down.
  • Discuss how these techniques can help them manage stress in their everyday lives.

Closing Reflection

5 mins

  • Distribute printable cards with mindfulness prompts.
  • Ask students to choose one prompt to reflect on and share their thoughts if they’re comfortable.
  • Encourage them to practice these techniques at home.
  • Thank students for their participation and remind them of the benefits of practicing mindfulness regularly.
