Mindful Coloring Journey

Practice mindfulness through coloring

Students will engage in mindful coloring to help them focus and relax. This lesson aims to teach them how to concentrate on their coloring while practicing mindfulness techniques to stay present and calm, fostering emotional regulation and concentration skills.

Coloring sheets, Coloring pencils/crayons, and Discussion guide

Step 1

Introduction to Mindfulness

10 mins

  • Greet the students and explain what mindfulness is in simple terms.
  • Discuss how mindfulness can help us stay present and calm.
  • Briefly introduce the coloring activity and how it will involve practicing mindfulness.

Step 2

Guided Coloring Activity

25 mins

  • Distribute the coloring sheets and coloring materials.
  • Guide the students to take a few deep breaths before starting.
  • Encourage them to focus on the colors and patterns they are creating.
  • As they color, point out the importance of staying in the moment and not rushing.

Step 3

Reflection and Discussion

10 mins

  • Once the coloring activity is over, gather the students to sit in a circle.
  • Use the discussion guide to facilitate a conversation about how they felt during the activity.
  • Encourage students to share their thoughts on mindfulness and if they felt more relaxed.
