Meet Your School Counselor

Get to know the school counselor

Students will meet their school counselor and learn about their role through a fun and interactive session. This lesson helps students understand how the counselor can support them and builds a sense of trust and familiarity.

Step 1

Introduction

5 mins

Welcome the students and introduce the school counselor.
Explain that today they will learn about the counselor and how they can help them.
Hand out name tags and markers for students to write their names.

Step 2

Interactive Activity

15 mins

The counselor will introduce themselves and share a little about what they do.
Distribute printable cards with different scenarios (e.g., feeling sad, needing help, etc.).
The counselor will read out the scenarios and ask students to hold up the card that matches what they might talk to the counselor about.
Discuss why it is important to talk to the counselor.

Step 3

Closing Discussion

10 mins

Gather the students in a circle.
Ask discussion questions to review what they learned.
Allow students to ask any questions they have about the counselor's role.
Thank the students for participating and remind them they can always come to the counselor if they need help.
